It was the decision of the State Plumbing Board of Louisiana, at a special board meeting held in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on October 19, 2006, to extend the implementation of the Continuing Professional Education requirements to be effective January 1, 2009.

.) Persons receiving their initial Journeyman License in 2010 are not required to attend 2010 Journeyman Continuing Professional Education classes for 2011 renewals.

.) Persons receiving their initial Master License in 2010 are not required to attend 2010 Master Continuing Professional Education classes for 2011 renewals; however, must still show proof of attending 2010 Journeyman Continuing Professional Education requirements for 2011 renewals.

.) All persons seeking to renew a Journeyman License issued by the La. State Plumbing Board for 2011 are required to attend and show proof of attendance at no less than four hours of a La. State Plumbing Board-approved CPE class in the prior calendar year.

.) All persons seeking to renew a Master Plumbing License or to convert an Inactive Master Plumber's License to an Active Master Plumber's License for 2011 must attend and show proof of attendance at no less than six hours of a La. State Plumbing Board-approved CPE class in the prior calendar year.

.) A holder of an Inactive Master Plumber's License who seeks to renew said license for 2011 must file an affidavit in a form provided by the La. State Plumbing Board, that they have been inactive as plumber in the previous year, and they will remain inactive and not work as a plumber for the year for which they seek to renew their license. Upon such filing with the La. State Plumbing Board, the holder of an Inactive Master Plumber's License will not be required to meet CPE requirements.

.) A holder of an Inactive Master Plumbers License who seeks to function as a Journeyman is required to attend and show proof of attendance at no less than four hours of La. State Plumbing Board-approved CPE class in the prior calendar year in order to renew for 2011

.) Every three years all persons holding a Water Supply Protection Specialist Endorsement issued by the La. State Plumbing Board are required to show proof of attendance at no less than six hours of La. State Plumbing Board-approved CPE training class in the prior three calendar years. This means the continuing education classes must be taken between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2010 to renew for 2011 and every three (3) years thereafter. .

.) Every three years all persons seeking to renew a Medical Gas Piping Installer or Medical Gas Verifier License are required to show proof of attendance at no less than four (4) hours of La. State Plumbing Board-approved CPE class in the prior three calendar years. The recertification class and exam that is required every three years will satisfy the continuing education requirement for a medical gas endorsement. Those holding this endorsement must take the four (4) hour class and pass the exam offered by a nationally recognized testing agency every code cycle in order to renew his/her endorsement. This requirement will be effective to renew a license for the year 2011. This means the continuing education classes must be taken between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2010 to renew for 2011 and every three (3) years thereafter.

.) An individual business or associate, who wishes to be a course provider, shall provide quality instructions and must have a CPE class scheduling plan for providing courses equally across the State of Louisiana. Course providers must, at a minimum offer a CPE class in each of the following cities: Lafayette, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Alexandria, Shreveport, Lake Charles and Monroe unless the provider demonstrates economic infeasibility that the course cannot be offered in one or more of these locations. Granting of this request is at the discretion of the Board.
