8/22/2008 1:20:00 PM - Going Green!State Plumbing Board of Louisiana Goes GREEN!We are joining the GREEN movement! Everywhere you look these days you see and hear people talking about going GREEN, well the State Plumbing Board of Louisiana is joining the effort. Energy efficiency has not only environmental benefits but economic benefits as well. We have begun recycling newspaper, bottles, cans and anything around the office that can be recycled. We try to operate on natural light in the afternoon hours and all computers and office equipment are powered down every night. We have recently added to the new applications and renewal forms a space to provide an email address. This will greatly save on paper as we hope, in the future, to correspond more through email as the bank of email addresses grows. As more companies go GREEN the option for email billing is offered and we take advantage of this whenever offered. When ordering office supplies and office equipment we try to order things made of recycled material
8/13/2007 12:43:00 PM - Commerce Committee does not buy Special Interest Groups hostile takeover attempt!Diane Winston of Covington, LA District 77 (R), introduced House Bill 601. It was soundly defeated by the good judgement of the House Commerce Committee. If passed, this would have been detrimental to the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Louisiana. The very next day Mrs. Winston attempted to attach the same amendment to another bill but was defeated on the floor in an 85 to 14 vote. House Bill 601 would have also lessened requirements of the Department of Health and Hospitals state plumbing code. The State Police estimated there were approximately thirty two hundred plumbing personnel at the Capital in opposition to the bill. The power play by the special interest groups was a ploy to misinform the public about the State Plumbing Board of Louisiana. After much research, it was found that Louisiana is well within the norm of the National average per capita for Journeyman and Master Plumbers.Exec
